WEB DEVELOPMENT, BRANDING, ADVERTISING & MERCHANDISE

The Belfast Giants website was originally launched in the year 2000 and went through many years of neglect before general manager Todd Kelman decided it was time for a change.

In 2007 I began to work with the Giants to re-establish their web presence in a way that would not only please the teams fanbase but also boost income through the sale of merchandise and advertising.

I have also worked on projects such as advertising campaigns and the design of the 2007/08 jerseys worn by the players and fans a like.

My degree project for the Interactive Multimedia Design course at the University of Ulster.

In the United Kingdom ice hockey is a minority sport that is enjoyed by a small but loyal group of fans. In 44 rinks over 8,000 men, women and children lace up their stakes and step out on the ice to play the game they love.

Odd Man Rush is an interactive learning community designed to raise awareness of ice hockey in the UK & Ireland. While the website provides information on the sport in general, its main focus is to teach beginner to intermediate players the skills needed to advance their game though the use of video, illustration and related reading.

When 8 players of the Bangor Chiefs left the in the summer of 2006 to form their own team they came up with the ironic name of Northern Cyclones - as cyclones only occur in the southern hemisphere.

In their two seasons of existance the Cyclones have lifted 3 trophys including 2 Northern Ireland Playoff titles.

I was given the task of branding the team from head to toe... creating the team logo, designing the home and away jerseys and setting the colour schemes. I also devloped the teams website.

BRANDING & KIT DESIGN

Having grown up in a country where I was subjected to football on a daily basis, it is hard for me to see teams with historic identities get a makeover.

Teams like Arsenal & Chelsea have managed to update their classic logos with great success. Aston Villa on the other hand, I felt done a poor job.

This concept is my attempt to create a new identity for Aston Villa that has a modern look whilst keeping a similar feel to the original badge. I've also designed some mock-up kits to show what my new badge would look like in context.

Creative Commercial Interiors is one of Irelands leading interior fit-out and furniture companies, specialising in Office design, re-location and refurbishment.

The catchphrase "Tell us your vision and we will make it a reality" has become the cornerstone of the Creative brand.

We took Creatives vision of a fresh and forward-thinking identity and made it a reality. This vision is carried through to the website which is designed in a clean, crisp manner, with alot of white space.

The Ryander Cup is an annual amateur golf competiton held between teams from Northern Ireland and South Africa.

After "borrowing" the Orlando Pirates logo for the first few Ryander Cups, the Pirates decided that they needed an identity of their own.

My solution kept some elements from the Orlando logo, while updating others and adding in a few touches of my own.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is an unforgettable way to spend a week of your life. At 19,340ft its the tallest mountain in Africa and one of the fabled Seven Summits.

Whilst working for Mahlatini African Travel I was given the task of branding their forthcoming sister company that would be soley devoted to organising climbs of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The identity I created pictures the pathway up the mountain and was based on a photograph taken by a collegue who had just returned from climbing the mountain.

Fine diners know what they like and if service isn't too their standard they are going to send it back. Thankfully when branding the Beluga Fine Dining Club I had no such problems.

My brief was to design a classy, up-market looking brand that would work equally as well in black and white as it did in colour.

I decided to brand the club with the best accompaniment to a great meal, a chilled glass of wine.
